MAURICEVILLE, Texas — One person is dead after being hit by an SUV on Highway 12 in Mauriceville Tuesday night.
The highway was shut down in both directions between Woodridge Dr. and FM 1136. It happened near Longhorn Liquor in the 10,000 block of Hwy. 12.
DPS Troopers say it happened just before 7 p.m. A Dodge Nitro was traveling westbound, when a person tried to cross the highway.
The person was hit, and Justice of the Peace Hershel Stagner pronounced the person dead at the scene.
