BEAUMONT, Texas — One person was taking to the hospital after a head on collision near Hillebrandt Bayou Bridge. Currently, there construction happening in the area.
Hunter Hentrich drives down highway 365 every day. We found him with blood-stains all over his clothes from the impact of his airbag. A bit shaken, he took the time to tells about the car accident.
"I was sitting here at this red-light, and I was probably two trucks back, two car lengths back and just have this road construction going on right here," Hentrich said.
TXDOT says it installed the stop light to protect drivers. Drivers must wait at the temporary light before crossing the single lane over the Hildebrant Bayou says
"We are doing everything that we can, safety is our top priority but we are relying on the drivers to please obey the traffic laws," TXDOT public information officer Sarah Dupree said. "it is extremely important. it could literally save someone life by just waiting at that red light and just waiting to try to pass over the bridge."
TXDOT tells me that they have ordered some timers that will be put on the lights to let drivers know how much time is left -- before the light changes. Paramedics took one person to the hospital.
