ORANGE, Texas — A 57-year-old woman is dead following a three-vehicle wreck along Texas Highway 62 in Orange County Thursday morning.

The wreck, involving a pickup truck and two other vehicles, happened at about 8 a.m. and forced the closure of all lanes in the 1800 block of Texas Highway 62 near the Tulane Rd overpass. The wreck, which was south of Circle C Ranch Rd, appeared to be head-on.

Preliminary investigation by troopers shows that at just before 8 a.m. a Kia Soul was headed north on Texas Highway 62 when it crossed over into the southbound lane and struck two southbound vehicles, according to a news release from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The woman driving the Kia Soul was a 57-years-old resident of Orange, according to Orange County Precinct two Justice of the Peace Chad Jenkins, who pronounced her dead at the scene and ordered an autopsy.

Her name will not be released until her immediate family has been notified.

The two other drivers were taken by ambulance to Christus St. Elizabeth hospital in Beaumont for treatment, according to the news release.

Troopers are continuing to investigate the wreck.
