ORANGE, Texas — A 31-year-old man is dead after being struck by two vehicles in Orange late Monday night.
Chase Gravett Vonwendt, 31, of Orange, died after being struck by the two vehicles according to Orange Police Captain Robert Enmon.
City of Orange Police officers were sent to the area of Texas 62 and FM 1078 just after 11 p.m. Monday for a "motorist assist" call according to a news release from the police department.
Moments after being dispatched to the area officers were notified that a man was walking in the roadway in the area the release said.
By the time officers arrived they discovered Vonwendt's body in the roadway police said.
During their investigation officers determined that he had been struck by two vehicles.
Both vehicles remained at the scene police said and the investigation is ongoing. No charges have been filed in the incident.
An autopsy has been ordered by Orange County Precinct Four Justice of the Peace Rodney Price.

On Monday, June 7, 2021, at 11:05 P.M., Officers with the City of Orange Police Department were dispatched to the area of Hwy 62 near FM 1078 in reference to a motorist assist.
Moments later, Officers were notified of a male subject walking in the roadway in the 4700 block of Hwy 62.
Upon Officer’s arrival, a white male was found to be deceased in the roadway in the 4700 block of Hwy 62.
During the investigation, it was determined the 31 year old white male of Orange, Texas was involved in an Auto/Pedestrian Crash.
The vehicle(s) involved were at the scene. An autopsy was order by Judge Price. The incident is under investigation by the Detective Division of the Orange Police Department.
