NEDERLAND, Texas — A group of Nederland High School students headed on a field trip to Winnie were delayed this morning when their bus was rear-ended by a car.
None of the 19 students, one teacher and driver aboard the bus were injured in the wreck which happened at about 8:30 a.m., Thursday morning, according to Nederland assistant superintendent, Bill Jardell.
The bus had stopped at a railroad crossing at the intersection of Texas Highway 365 and West Port Arthur Rd with it's lights flashing when a Toyota passenger car struck the rear of the bus he told 12News.
The driver of the car, which sustained heavy damage when it went under the rear of the bus, was not injured.
The bus received only minor damage Jardell said.
The driver of the Toyota did receive a citation from police according to Jardell.
Another bus picked up the students so that they could continue on their planned field trip he said.
All parents of students aboard the bus were notified of the wreck.
