Two dead after fiery rollover crash shuts down Highway 105 west of Bevil Oaks

DPS says more than one car caught on fire after the collision. A person was possibly trapped inside one of the vehicles.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Two people died in a fiery crash near Bevil Oaks Friday night. 

A rollover crash involving three vehicles happened Friday, Dec. 28 about 7:15 p.m. on Highway 105 near the Jefferson and Hardin County line. 

State troopers said a white Chevrolet sedan traveling westbound on Highway 105 crossed into the eastbound traffic lane and struck a black SUV and a red SUV. 

The white passenger car was engulfed in flames upon impact, Texas DPS Sgt. Stephanie Davis said in news release. The department has confirmed two people in the white passenger vehicle died. 

Shane Hardy, 20, of Sour Lake and Destiny Sells, 20, of Port Arthur, who were in the white Chevrolet, were pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Mark Ames. 

The driver of the black 2005 Mercury SUV, Shadron Priddy, 52, of Sour Lake, was taken to a nearby hospital. His injuries are unknown, Davis said. The driver of the red 2017 Kia SUV, Kathryn Allen, 61, of Shepherd, was not injured in the crash. 

DPS Troopers are still investigating the accident, Davis said. 

The eastbound and westbound lanes on Highway 105 were closed while the accident was being cleared.

From Texas Department of Public Safety...

At approximately 7:15p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers responded to a multiple vehicle crash on SH 105 at the Hardin-Jefferson County line.

The preliminary DPS crash investigation indicates that multiple vehicles are involved in the crash with possible entrapment. After the collision, the vehicles were engulfed in flames.

There are reports of injuries; however, the extent of those injuries are unknown at this time.

All eastbound and westbound traffic lanes of SH 105 at the Hardin-Jefferson County line are closed due to the crash. All lanes will remain closed until the crash has been safely cleared from the roadway. Motorists are urged to find an alternate travel route. Expect delays.

Additional details will be released as information is confirmed.
 

Second Texas DPS release...

The initial crash investigation indicates that a white passenger vehicle was traveling westbound on SH 105, crossed into the eastbound traffic lane and struck a black SUV and a red SUV.  Upon impact, the white passenger vehicle was engulfed in flames.

At this time, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) can confirm that the two occupants in the white passenger vehicle have been pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Mark Ames.

The occupants in the other vehicles were transported to local hospitals with unknown injuries.

The names of the deceased victims will not be released until the next of kin has been notified.

All information is preliminary as Troopers work to determine the exact factors that contributed to this fatal crash.
 

Third Texas DPS news release...

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) can confirm that Shane Hardy of Sour Lake and Destiny Sells of Port Arthur were the two occupants in the white Chevrolet passenger vehicle from last night’s crash on SH 105. The driver, 20-year-old Shane Hardy, and Destiny Sells, 20, were pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Mark Ames at the scene.

The driver of the black 2005 Mercury SUV, 52-year-old Shadron Priddy of Sour Lake, was transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries.

The driver of the red 2017 Kia SUV, 61-year-old Kathryn Allen of Shepherd, was not injured in the crash.

This remains an ongoing crash investigation and there are no additional details available at this time.
