ORANGE COUNTY, Texas — Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety are investigating after two separate crashes involving 18-wheelers backed up traffic on Interstate 10 in Orange.

Both crashes took place on Wednesday on Interstate 10 at Womack Road. The first crash took place around 1:30 p.m.

A 2013 Dodge pickup was traveling east in the outside lanes. Troopers believe the driver was traveling at an unsafe speed, which caused him to hydroplane and hit the inside barrier, according to a DPS release.

The Dodge pickup was then hit by a 2015 Freightliner truck tractor semi-trailer that was also traveling east. The second crash happened shortly after.

A 2019 Freightliner truck tractor semi-trailer and a 2014 Freightliner truck tractor semi-trailer were both traveling east.

The 2014 truck was behind the 2019 truck. Troopers believe the driver of the 2019 truck slowed down after seeing the first crash, according to the release.

The driver of the 2014 truck failed to control his speed and jack-knifed. This caused the 2014 Freightliner to lose its load of cinder blocks.

No one was injured during either crash.

This is a developing story. We will update with more if and when we receive more confirmed information.
