ORANGE COUNTY, Texas — Two people were rushed to the hospital on Wednesday night with serious injuries after a multiple-vehicle crash on Hwy. 62 in Orange County.
The wreck happened near Hickory Bend Drive, north of Mauriceville.
DPS Troopers said a 2016 Chevrolet pickup was headed northbound on 62, when the driver tried turning left onto Hickory Bend. That's when troopers say he hit the driver's side of a 2010 Chevrolet car that was headed southbound.
Department of Public Safety Troopers were called to the scene around 8 p.m. are still investigating at the scene of the crash.
Right now, officials aren't releasing the names of those involved.
From a DPS news release (10:03 p.m.):
The preliminary DPS crash investigation indicates that a 2016 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling northbound on SH 62. A 2010 Chevrolet passenger vehicle was traveling southbound on SH 62. The driver of the Chevrolet pickup truck attempted to make a left turn onto Hickory Bend Road when he struck the passenger vehicle on the driver’s side of the vehicle.
Both drivers were transported to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries. Due to the seriousness of their injuries, the names will be released once family members have been notified of the crash.
This remains an ongoing investigation and there are no additional details available at this time.

At approximately 8:00p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers received a report of a multiple vehicle crash on SH 62 in Orange County. The crash occurred near Hickory Bend Road.
This is an active crash investigation with DPS Troopers and other first responders on scene. At this time, crash details are limited.
Motorists are urged to use caution while traveling in the area and stay alert for stopped or slow moving traffic.
