ORANGE, Texas — Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety are investigating a crash involving a trooper's vehicle that left one woman injured.
The crash happened Saturday, June 11, 2022 night on Interstate 10 near exit 875 in Orange County. Officials believe shortly before midnight a trooper was conducting a traffic stop on the eastbound inside shoulder, with their patrol vehicle’s emergency lights on.
A 2022 Nissan Versa traveling eastbound drove onto the shoulder and hit the back of the patrol vehicle, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety release.
The trooper, 31-year-old Eric Williams, was not injured during the crash. The driver of the Nissan, who was later identified as a woman from Louisiana, was taken to Lake Charles Memorial for treatment.
The vehicle that William’s initially stopped was not affected by the crash. At this time, it is unclear what charges if any those involved may face.

ORANGE COUNTY – Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers are investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred last night, June 11, 2022, on Interstate Highway 10, near mile marker 875.
The preliminary investigation indicates that at approximately 11:50 p.m., a Texas Department of Public Safety State Trooper was conducting a traffic stop on the eastbound inside improved shoulder, with the vehicle's emergency lights activated.
A 2022 Nissan Versa was also traveling eastbound and drove over onto the improved shoulder and struck the rear of the patrol vehicle.
The State Trooper is identified as Eric Williams, 31, from Orange, was not injured during the crash.
The driver of the Nissan was transported to Lake Charles Memorial for treatment.
The vehicle the Trooper had stopped was not impacted by this crash.
This crash remains under investigation. Additional information is not available at this time.
