ORANGE, Texas — A bicyclist was taken to a Texas hospital to be treated for his injuries following a late Sunday night accident.
Orange Police Department Sgt. Nick Medina told 12News it happened in the 2200 block of 16th Street around 9 p.m. At this time, it is unknown what type of vehicle was involved in the accident with the bike.
Following the incident, the bicyclist had to be taken to Christus St. Elizabeth. The severity of his injuries is currently unknown.
A witness told a 12News crew on the scene that he was driving down 16th Street when he saw the accident happen.
"He [the bicyclist] was coming in one way, and there was a car coming from the red light and I was coming from the south," the witness said. "I was shocked because I was right there."
The witness said the cyclist, "came across the road and the car hit him."
The incident is still under investigation.
