Beaumont man killed in wreck along westbound I-10 near Washington Blvd

Drivers should seek alternate routes and use caution if they are traveling through the area.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Traffic along south/westbound Interstate 10 in Beaumont is backed up Friday morning due to a wreck near Washington Blvd that claimed the life of a Beaumont man.

Just before 6 a.m. Friday, Dec. 4, the Beaumont Police Department posted a traffic alert on its Facebook page reporting that only one lane of I-10 was open following the fatal wreck.

Curtis Havard, 40, of Beaumont, was killed after his pickup truck struck a guardrail along westbound Interstate 10 near the Washington Blvd exit, according to Jefferson County Precinct One Justice of the Peace Ben Collins, Sr.

The man was traveling at a high speed when he struck the guardrail, Collins said. He said he ordered an autopsy.

Drivers should seek alternate routes and use caution if they are traveling through the area.
