BEAUMONT, Texas — The left inside westbound lane of Interstate 10 is now open on the west side of the Neches River as Beaumont Police and firefighters deal with a fiery wreck involving an 18-wheeler that has triggered the shut down of Interstate 10 at the Neches River.
An 18-wheeler crash and fire in the westbound lanes of the interstate have forced the shutdown of the westbound lanes, according to a news release from the Beaumont Police Department.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was taken to the hospital by a medical helicopter.
The eastbound lanes have been reopened.
Westbound traffic is being diverted off of Interstate 10 at the downtown exit on the west side of the Neches River.
Police suggest drivers use an alternate route.
