Southeast Texas schools are being affected by UIL's new realignment, reclassification of districts, regions

The 38 page document explains which schools changed classes and districts based on enrollment numbers and were taking requests into consideration as well.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Some Southeast Texas districts are going to be looking different for the next few seasons.

Reclassification and realignment information came out this morning at 9 a.m. covering football, volleyball and basketball for the 2024 through the 2026 seasons.

The 38 page document explains which schools changed classes and districts based on enrollment numbers and were taking requests into consideration as well.

 Football

In football, the State Champion Port Neches-Groves Indians will stay in 5A but be moved to District 8 in Region II along with Nederland.  So Mid-County Madness will not be affected by any of these moves.

PNG State Championship nemesis Dallas South Oak Cliff will also be in the same region. That means these two teams won't play for a State Championship anymore but will have to go through one another to get to the championship game.

Beaumont United and Beaumont West Brook moved to 5A Division 1 Region III District 9 as well.

Basketball

A couple of movements that stand out within the area are Beaumont United and West Brook going from 6A down to 5A Region III District 19.

Schools like PNG and Port Arthur Memorial will have a more difficult route to get to the State Title game. They are being placed in a district alongside legendary basketball programs like West Brook and Beaumont United.

East Chambers will continue to face their normal competition within their District 22 play. Schools like Anahuac, Kirbyville, and Orangefield will remain in play with each other in Region III.

4A Region III District 18 which holds Silsbee, Vidor, Lumberton and West Orange-Stark will also remain the same.

4A Region III District 19 will receive a handful of District 20's participants. Hamshire-Fannett, Hardin-Jefferson, Hargrave, Liberty and Livingston will now be facing Cleveland Tarkington and Shepherd in next  season's district play.

Volleyball

Beaumont United and West Brook volleyball teams will also be playing in a 5A Region III District 19.

Warren and Newton will stay in 3A but they will move to District 21.
