Texas State pitching quells Lamar bats

SAN MARCOS, Texas — Lamar University’s softball team were unable to produce any offense as they were overwhelmed by the pitching of Texas State University, who shut them down 9-0 in five innings. LU managed just two hits all throughout the game while an eight run fourth inning propelled TXS to the win.

Audry Fleming and Felixia Hinojosa each picked up hits for LU while Mikaila Kenney drew a walk. Emilee LaRue started the game and pitched two scoreless innings allowing just one hit while striking out one batter. But both Karyana Mitchell (1.0 IP, six runs, four hits) and Kelsey Pizarro (1.0, three turns, four hits) conceded the runs with Mitchell taking the loss.

LU will have a doubleheader tomorrow as they will start with Abilene Christian at 12:00 p.m., and UTSA at 5:00 p.m.. Both games will be in San Antonio, Texas.
