BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont West Brook head basketball coach Andre Boutte announced his retirement in front of friends, family and media Tuesday morning.
Coach Boutte had an historic career roaming the sidelines for multiple area schools while collecting numerous awards in the process.
The Hall of Famer won three State Championships, including two with Port Arthur Lincoln in 1991 and again in 1995, and one with Beaumont Ozen in 2001. Boutte also won nine regional championships and 17 district titles.
Boutte was named the 2003 Texas State Coach of the Year and voted into the Southeast Texas Coaches Association Hall of Honor in 2011 before being inducted into the Texas High School Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016.
The Beaumont native graduated from Hebert High School and helped win two State Championships at the school in 1980 and 1981. He went on to play college ball for Temple University where he was all conference in 1982 and 1983 before finishing his career with the University of North Texas as the team captain in 1985.
Boutte coached at Kountze from 1987 to 1989 and recorded a 48-17 record. He also coached at Port Arthur Lincoln from 1989 to 1997 amassing an incredible 221-53 record with the school. Boutte finished his coaching career with 740 wins to go against only 201 losses.
