PNG Lady Indians pound Baytown Lee, 9-0

PNG girls stay undefeated in 17-5A with dominating performance against Lady Indians

PORT NECHES, Texas — Port Neches-Groves had to wait an extra day to hit the pitch due to an official shortage, but the Lady Indians didn't seem to mind as they pounded Baytown Lee 9-0 at The Reservation. 

PNG built a 5-0 lead at halftime and stayed sharp in the second half despite the game being in hand. 

Crisp passing between Shaelyn Cobb and Emerey Riley led to an easy Cobb goal to build the Lady Indians lead to 6-0. 

Moment later Emma Bates delivered a corner kick into the box that was ultimately deflected in by a Baytown Lee player, giving PNG a 7-0 advantage.

Coach Aimee Bates teams wasn't done. Later in the half Marlee Sonnier cross a pass to Blakely Burks who tapped in Lady Indians eighth goal of the night.

Port Neches-Groves would find the net one more time before the clock stuck zero, as they improved to (9-2-1) on the year and remained undefeated in district at (3-0-1).

The loss dropped the Lady Ganders to (0-3-1).  

In other action the West Brook boys came up short in a tough battle against 21-6A leader Kingwood. The Bruins were topped by the Mustangs 1-0 thanks to a late penalty kick in the second half.
