BRIDGE CITY, Texas — In one of the most hyped up soccer matches to this point of the season, Lumberton proved why they're sitting atop the 409Sports Top 5.
After surrendering an early second half goal to Bridge City's Hudson Campbell off a penalty kick, the Raiders scored four times down the stretch to secure a 4-1 victory at Larry Ward Stadium Monday night.
The Raiders, who are also ranked 28th in Class 4A Coaches Poll put out by Lethal Enforcer, improve to (10-0-3, 4-0) on the season. Friday night Lumberton will continue district play at home against Hardin-Jefferson.
Bridge City's loss snapped a nine game winning streak. The Cardinals (10-2, 3-1) will try to bounce back Friday at Little Cypress-Mauriceville.
In other Monday night action the Kelly boys soccer team secured the top playoff seed in TAPPS 5-5A with 2-0 shutout of Second Baptist.
Meanwhile the Kelly Lady Dawgs also took care off business, hammering Second Baptist, 5-1.
