BEAUMONT, Texas — High school football is less than two months away and some area schools have been projected to win their respective districts according to Dave Campbells Texas football.
Starting in District 9, 5A, Division I, the Port Arthur Memorial Titans have been picked to win their district. The Titans started the season strong last year winning their first eight games in a row. Including a 24 to 7 win over the eventual state champion Port Neches-Groves Indians in the first game of the season.
Port Arthur ended the year losing three in a row and got bounced in the first round of the playoffs by Forney. The Titans will open their season against Spring Dekaney.
In District 8, 5A, Division 2 the State Champion Port Neches-Groves Indians were not only picked to win their district, but they are the number one team in the state. The Indians went 15 and 1 last season and defeated Dallas South Oak Cliff in the championship game 20 to 17.
PNG will start their title defense against Klein Oak on August 30.
Down in 4A, District 10, Division I, the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears have been selected to win their district. The Bears were up and down last season going 6 and 5 overall but 4 and 1 in district play and finishing second. They lost to Chapel Hill in the first round of the playoff 35 to 7.
LCM will open their season against Hamshire Fannett on August 30th at Hamshire Fannett at 7pm.
