PORT NECHES, Texas — If you're not able to make the Class 5A-II State Semifinal Football Game matchup between the Port Neches-Grove Indians and the Liberty Hill Panthers in Cypress, there's no need to worry.
Kaiden Lunceford and the rest of PNG's "NDN Sports" broadcast team will bring you the action as it happens.
This season marks the very first time this program is broadcasting football games live.
"Maybe it's someone who couldn't go to the game, maybe it's just somebody who physically can't and now they can watch their alma mater on TV or however they choose," said instructor, Mike Tobias.
Tobias says they couldn't have picked a better year to get their start.
"We have made tremendous leaps and bounds throughout the year. It's onward and upward for this program," he said.
They even did a live broadcast at last week's game at NRG Stadium in Houston.
"They were just like, 'this place, I can't believe I'm here.' The press box was so high, everything was so high tech, they quickly got reminded 'we have a job to do.' So, you know they're excited about the opportunities that this affords them," he said.
While every broadcast needs the right people behind the scenes, it also needs a great leading voice to bring the intense energy of the stadium to the PNG community.
"I just knew i wanted to do it my whole life and I know I have a career in it. Just being a freshman and being able to do things that not a lot of other people can, and having the confidence is just, like, a big thing for me," Lunceford said.
A prodigy in the making, Lunceford knows that constant research and preparation are key to eventually making it in the pros.
"Be something big. Work on ESPN. That's the goal," he said.
The game will be livestreamed here on Friday, Dec. 8, 2023 at 7 p.m.
