BEAUMONT, Texas — A number of area boys basketball teams were in action tonight trying to fulfill their dreams of a state championship.
The biggest game of the night happened out at Neches Arena where Beaumont United and Beaumont West Brook met for the third time this season, but this time the winner would have to go home for good.
The Timberwolves and the Bruins would go back and forth early on, trading three point shots, but BU would work up a 20 point lead late in the game. West Brook would fight back and cut the lead to three points late in the game, but it would not be enough as the Timberwolves get the victory 73 to 70.
The Silsbee Tigers and the Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns were also on the court tonight. Both were fighting to move on to the Regional Semifinal round of the playoffs. It was all Tigers in this one though. They get the win over the Longhorns 71 to 56. Silsbee goes on to face the Wheatley Wildcats on Friday.
The Orangefield Bobcats met up with the Hitchcock Bulldogs in their playoff matchup. Orangefield was not able to keep up with the Bulldogs and lost this one 66 to 44.
The Kountze Lions were also in action against Tarkington. The Lions got the victory 71 to 49 in their third round matchup. They will take on the Westwood Panthers at 730 on Friday.
Down in 2A, the Sabine Pass Sharks were in action against the Thorndale Bulldogs. The Sharks earned a tough win 44 to 39 out at Cy-Fair High School and now they are moving on to the Regional Semifinal for the first time in school history.
