Beaumont United and West Brook battle it out in Montagne Center

Beaumont rivals draw large crowd at Lamar University

BEAUMONT, Texas — Lamar University was the place to be Wednesday night with crosstown rivals Beaumont United and West Brook squaring off for a pair for crucial District 21-6A contests.

In the early game the West Brook Lady Bruins continued to build on one of their best seasons in years, pounding the Beaumont United Shewolves, 68-25.

The win upped the 20th ranked Lady Bruins impressive record to (21-3, 4-2), while the Shewolves tumbled to (9-14, 2-4).

Once the ladies left the court, it was time for the Timberwolves and Bruins to break their first place tie.

West Brook hung tough for the first two quarters, trailing by five after the first and second. After that Beaumont United would start to take control.

In the end the second ranked Timberwolves overpowered the Brook for a 69-49 win in front of buzzing crowd in the Montagne Center.

Beaumont United improved to (20-1, 4-0) heading into Saturday's home contest against Humble.

Meanwhile West Brook (19-6, 3-1) will try to get back on track at CE King Saturday.
