GEORGETOWN, Texas — The Lumberton Lady Raiders fell just short in their pursuit for their first state championship losing 3-1 to the defending champion Celina Lady Bobcats.
Coming off a state semifinal loss last year, the Lady Raiders tore through the 2024 season with a vengeance, going undefeated in district this year.
This level of dominance has been spearheaded by a talented group of seniors that has not lost a district game in four straight years, led by senior captains Brenya Tyson and Bailey Schroder.
Lumberton also had some younger contributors this season who have injected even more talent into an already loaded veteran roster.
Junior, Tessa Christopherson is the team’s leading scorer with 20 goals and Sophomore Addison Stewart leads the team in assists and has 17 goals of her own.
Even with the Lady Raiders talented roster and relative dominance in district, a match with the defending state champs was never going to be a walk in the park.
The Lady Bobcats have looked unbeatable for most of the season, outscoring their opponents a total of 105-3 in the search of a state threepeat.
As Celina moves on in hopes to hoist their third straight championship, the Lady Raiders have nothing to hang their heads about as they wrap up a magical season.
