Silsbee head football coach and athletic director Bobby McGallion has turned in his resignation. McGallion, who's dad Ray was also a longtime coach at the school, was head coach of the Tigers for 18 years, replacing Charlie Woodard in 1997.

McGallion posted 111 wins with the Tigers, advancing to the playoffs 14 times. Twice under McGallion, the Tigers advanced to the state quarterfinals, including this past season.

The Beaumont Enterprise is reporting that Silsbee school superintendent Richard Bain is holding on McGallion's resignation. Bain says there could be a chance that the veteran coach is having second thoughts. The resignation takes effect at the end of the school year.

The Silsbee Bee, who first reported the news, said McGallion said he was not retiring, but would not say what he future plans might be.
