GROVES, Texas — A Groves teen is excited to become part of a team that not only has multiple national championship titles under their belts, but boasts a popular Netflix series too.
Kyler Carreon, 18, knew he wanted to be a Bulldog even before the world knew about Navarro College cheer. He's a student at Port-Neches Groves ISD.
The series on Netflix, 'Cheer' gave the world a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes of competitive cheer.
"I always looked at videos and thought maybe I could do this," Carreon said.
He's been cheering since he was in middle school.
"That adrenaline that you get like right before you go on," Carreon said. "You think about every single thing in the routine."
He's worked hard on three different cheer teams, working toward his ultimate goal to be a part of the Navarro dynasty.
"Your heart starts to race and you get the chills... like I have the chills right now just thinking about it," Carreon said.
Navarro is well known in the cheer community, with 14 national champion titles. They've been named grand national champions 5 times.
Carreon tried out in January, and just received the email he had been hoping for.

"I can't even explain the feeling I got when I saw the word congratulations... and an email from Monica Aldama," Carreon said.
He says cheerleading has taught him important life lessons.
"To never settle for anything but greatness," Carreon said.
For now, he says he's ready to trade in his PNG purpel and white for red and black and get to work.
"I am so excited. I am a Navarro cheerleader," Carreon said.
