Beaumont United completes the season sweep over their rival West Brook in a dominant 84-50 win

With the victory over West Brook, Beaumont United now stands alone in second place in district.

BEAUMONT, Texas — The season sweep is complete. The Beaumont United Timberwolves at the Neches Federal Credit Union Arena completed the season sweep of the West Brook Bruins with a commanding score of 84-50 Saturday afternoon.

The previous game between the two was also played at the Neches Arena several weeks ago, and here again Lamar University was the site.

After coming off the previous week having lost to two district rivals in Atascocita and C. E. King, BU stormed out to defeat the Summer Creek Bulldogs Wednesday night to get back on track.

One obstacle in the way of standing alone in second place were the West Brook Bruins. Both squads were tied in district play coming into this game.

With the victory for Beaumont United, they now sit at second place behind Atascocita. Unfortunately because of the lead the Eagles have on the rest of the district (11-0), Atascocita has already nabbed the number one seed for the playoffs.

As for West Brook, they now sit in third place with their 7-4 record, and the road to the playoffs from here gets a lot more difficult.

The Bruins remaining three games are against the the fifth seed C. E. King Panthers, fourth seed Summer Creek, and the top seed Atascocita Eagles.

The King game will be difficult for the Bruins being that they currently sit at 5-6 on the year with a chance to sneak in as the fourth seed (with some help).

The fourth seed Summer Creek game will be equally as hard as both the Bruins and Bulldogs at this point in the season cannot afford to lose.

The one seed is locked up with Atascocita, but the remainder of the seats available for the playoffs are yet to be concrete. A lot of fun basketball is on the horizon ahead.
