BEAUMONT, Texas — Traffic crawled down to one lane after an accident on I-10 westbound Monday morning near the Purple Heart Memorial Bridge.
The accident happened around 5:45 a.m., Texas DPS Sgt. Stephanie Davis said. A vehicle going westbound on I-10 rear-ended a semi tractor trailer that was broken down and partially blocking the roadway.
The driver of the vehicle, Tierra Carter, 25, of Beaumont, was taken to Christus St. Elizabeth hospital. No one was inside the semi at the time of the accident, Davis said.
The westbound lanes have reopened on I-10 following the crash.
