Three large pavilions to be demolished at Claiborne Park in Vidor

Three large pavilions at Claiborne Park are set to be demolished due to structural issues.

VIDOR, Texas — Three large pavilions at Claiborne Park will be demolished and rebuilt due to "significant structural deficiencies." 

Structural reports indicated the structural issues as documents were being prepared for FEMA according to an Orange County Parks Department news release. Pavilions 1, 2 and 3 will be closed and demolished according to the release.

Claiborne Park will remain open for use of the play grounds, walking trails and use of three other smaller covered picnic areas according to the release. Portable restrooms will be placed in two areas of the park while the large pavilions are closed, and reservations for the smaller picnic areas can still be made according to the release.

Reservations made for the three large pavilions are being cancelled, and deposit refunds will be made according to the release.

Orange County will be working to rebuild the facilities as soon as possible according to the release.

Orange County will be closing Pavilions #1, #2 and #3 at Claiborne Park immediately. After receiving structural reports in preparing documents to present to FEMA, it has been determined that there is significant structural deficiencies found and that all three large pavilions be demolished and rebuilt. Orange County will be moving forward to rebuild the facilities as soon as possible.

Claiborne Park is still open to enjoy the play grounds, walking trails and the use of the three other smaller covered picnic areas. Portable restroom facilities will be provided in two areas of the park while the large pavilions are closed. Reservations can still be made for the smaller covered picnic areas. Reservation for the three large pavilions are being cancelled and refunds of deposit will be given back.
