(KCEN)—Ethan Monsey is only in the 7th grade but he's been turning heads and overcoming odds his entire life.
Born with only one hand and no feet, Ethan has always loved sports and never let his body stop him from playing.
"When he was really little he never let anything hold him back," said Katrina Monsey, Ethan's mother. "He never let it stop him, ever."
A true athlete, Ethan has been impressing coaches at Lampasas Middle School ever since he first stepped foot on campus.
"At first I didn't know what to expect from him," said Lampasas 7th grade football coach Lance Garner. "He never makes excuses, never holds himself back and just acts like one of the other kids."
Ethan impressed football coaches so much this season that he earned a starting position at outside linebacker. And despite having only one hand, he's also the backup quarterback.
"Whether you're a kid or an adult I think everyone can relate to how special this is," Garner said.
Lampasas won their final game of the season Thursday night against Burnet, clinching the district championship. While this has been a magical season for these 12-year-old boys, Ethan takes pleasure in something much simpler.
"I'm just happy that I can play sports and it doesn't affect me that I don't have feet or a hand. I can still play."
