DALLAS, Texas — Ten-year-old Nicholas Fierros, Jr. was found eight hours after his family reported he had been kidnapped at gunpoint.

He was found five miles away from the home where he was taken.

His cousin, 14-year-old Janet Cabrales, was in her room when the robbers kicked in the door at about 12:30 p.m. Monday.

"I was so scared," she said. "I didn’t know what to do.”

She called 911 as she hid in a closet.

“I just hear them coming into my mom’s room and my dad’s room and then I didn’t really know what to do," she said. "I said, 'Can you please be quiet because I am scared they are going to get me and kill me.'”

She heard them demand money and ransack the house, but they didn’t find anything.

“They said, 'Grab the boy; the cops are coming,'” Cabrales said.

Other family members inside the home hid except for Fierros, who had been watching movies with another cousin when the men broke down the door of the home.

“I just heard him crying and I am like, 'Oh my God. He didn’t hid,'" Cabrales said. "I kind of felt bad because I didn’t tell him to like hide or anything.”

Sylvia Rosales shares the duplex where Nicholas was staying with his aunt and uncle.

“They took the older one Nick and wrapped him in duct tape and they took him," she said.

His family was relieved when he was found.

“I actually feel pretty good now that he is here with us," Cabrales said. "I am actually pretty thankful for everyone who said pray for Nick.”

Fierros was found at the intersection of Ann Arbor Avenue and Frio Drive, where the robbers dumped him.

A passersby called 911 after spotting the boy and recognizing him from media reports about the kidnapping.

The boy and his parents were reunited Monday night. He was then taken to the Children’s Advocacy Center for questioning.

Police are looking into the possibility that the robbers were targeting Fierros' father, who owns a construction company and is known to carry cash.

Police have a vague description of the suspects, who were wearing black clothes and ski masks. There's no vehicle description.
