Silsbee police chief resigns to take new job

Waylan Rhodes became Silsbee's Police Chief in 2017 after the previous police chief, Mark Davis, was elected sheriff.

SILSBEE, Texas — Silsbee's Police Chief recently resigned and served through March 26.

Waylan Rhodes became Silsbee's Police Chief in 2017 after the previous police chief, Mark Davis, was elected sheriff.

Rhodes told City Manager DeeAnn Zimmerman he will take a position with the Manvel Police Department and will be closer to his wife's job. It was a job offer he couldn't refuse to be with his family more according to Zimmerman. 

An interim chief has not been appointed.
