BEAUMONT, Texas — Local republican delegates were excited to have former President Trump inside the arena again Tuesday night.
"Everybody was kind of in shock and at the same time relieved to see him doing well," said republican delegate David Stone Jr.
After an assassination attempt on Saturday, security was beefed up significantly for the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.
"Security is extremely, extremely tight, but it made us feel very safe the buses were swept," said Stone.
Stone says he and the rest of supporters welcomed the introduction of Trumps running mate, Senator J.D. Vance.
"He had said some negative things about President Trump, so people were surprised he was chosen as the candidate, but good republicans can disagree on small things but agree on big things," said Stone.
For Stone, the biggest surprise so far is having Nikki Haley take the stage.
"When we have Nikki Haley's delegates with us, she released them, all of the Republican Party has unified no matter what," Stone said.
Other delegates are saying now is the time for action.
"We can't sit on the couch anymore and write checks to our party. We've got to get out there and be political soldiers," said local republican delegate Danielle Faraci.

Faraci says that the party's delegates are finally united, and that feels good.
"There is a heightened determination. The people of Texas have let their voices be heard. This is like our state convention on steroids," said Faraci.
Stone says that a rejuvenated, unified Republican Party is the key to making Trump a favorite contender in November.
"My opinion is any man or a candidate, we would be willing to take a bullet and still continue running for the campaign. I believe deserves to be president," said Stone.
Tomorrow night Vice Presidential nominee J.D. Vance will deliver his speech, and former President Donald Trump will wrap up the convention with his speech Thursday night.
