Southeast Texans voice elation, apprehension after Election Night

Now that Donald Trump has officially been elected as the 47th President of the United States, voters across Southeast Texas are having mixed reactions.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Southeast Texans on both sides of the aisle are still reacting to the results of Election Night.

Now that Donald Trump has officially been elected as the 47th President of the United States, voters across Southeast Texas are having mixed reactions.

Some are excited for President Trump to "Make America Great Again".

"I was at home by myself jumping up and down, yelling and screaming," said Elaine Henderson.

While others fear what the conservative police he has promised to enforce.

"I am emotional on it also. I have a lot of anxiety and anger," said John Henderson Jr.

Henderson is the President of Golden Triangle Republican Women she says Trump represents hope for a better America.

"People are tired of the last four years, and I think they made a statement. The people of the United States made a statement, he won overwhelmingly. He won the popular vote, he won the electoral college," said Henderson.

Meanwhile, the Orange NACCP John Jefferson Jr. says he is concerned for America.

"This guy has freshly been convicted as a felon, and has revived the highest position in the country. As future president of the United States of America with all this over his shoulder, so what is that saying about upcoming felons?" said Jefferson.

Henderson tells 12News she looks forward to stricter boarder control.

"Making Texas and the country safer by closing our boarders, working on our economy. I'm tired of paying a lot of money for grocery and gas. I got 2 kids, with little kids and it's ridiculous," said Henderson.

On the other side of the isle, Jefferson disagrees with the supreme courts ruling on striking Roe V. Wade.

"I don't believe anybody should have the authority to tell a woman what she can and cannot do with her body," said Jefferson.
