Here's what's on the ballot in Hardin County

Early voting for the general election is open from Oct. 21 to Nov. 1, while Election Day is Nov. 5.

KOUNTZE, Texas — In Texas, polling in a closely-watched race for U.S. Senate shows Sen. Ted Cruz (R) and Congressman Colin Allred (D) are neck and neck. This year, the country will decide if Vice President Kamala Harris will be getting a promotion to the top job or if former President Donald Trump will return to the Resolute Desk.

In Hardin County, voters will be voting for U.S. House District 36, State Representative 18 and three school board spots in one district. Two municipal utility district and an emergency services district preposition are also on the ballot.

Hardin County: Voting locations | Sample ballot

There are three contested races for school board members in the West Hardin County CISD.

Emergency Services District Eight is holding an election to approve a 2% tax rate increase while Lumberton has two municipal utility district bonds on the ballot.

Voters will also have a chance to weigh in on several other national, state and local races on the ballot this year.

Contested local races in Hardin County:

  • Lumberton Municipal Utility District Proposition A
    • The issuance of $472,000,000 in bonds and the levy of sufficient ad valorem taxes, without limit as to rate or amount within the district's defined area, in payment of principal and interest on said bonds. (Macadamized, graveled, or paved roads, or improvements, including storm drainage, in aid of those roads serving the defined area.)        
  • Lumberton Municipal Utility District Proposition B 
    • The issuance of 472,000,000 in refunding bonds to refund bonds issued for macadmized, graveled, or paved roads, or improvements, including storm drainage, in aid of those roads serving the defined area, or refunding of such bonds and the levy of sufficient ad valorem taxes, without limit as to rate or amount within the district's defined area, in payment of principal and interest on said refunding bonds.        
  • Village Mills Emergency Services District No. 8 Proposition A 
    • The adoption of a local sales and use tax in the Village Mills Emergency Services District No. 8 at the rate of two percent, excluding any area of the district where a local sales and use tax is already imposed at a rate of two percent.
