Councilman Audwin Samuel seeking re-election for ward 3 seat on Beaumont City Council

BEAUMONT, Texas — The current holder of the Beaumont City Council ward three seat announced his run for re-election. 

Councilman Audwin Samuel announced Tuesday that he will seek re-election in May. He is the longest-serving councilman on the council, having first served from 1984 - 1993 and then again in 1999 to present time. 

He will face off against Pastor Carlton Sharp who announced his intention to run on January 13, 2023.

Councilman Samuel easily won re-election in May 2021. After winning the 2021 re-election run, he was sworn in on May 11.

The Beaumont city clerk will start accepting candidate applications on January 18, 2023, with a filing deadline of 5 p.m. on February 17, 2023.

The municipal election will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023, from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. Early voting will be from April 24, 2023, through May 2, 2023, according to the city.
