Port Arthur police officer George Clark's job status could be changing this week.
Chief Mark Blanton says once the criminal case against Clark is filed with the Jefferson County District Attorney's office, and Clark is formally charged, then Blanton plans on changing Clark's status from paid leave to indefinite suspension without pay.
Beaumont police arrested Clark at an apartment complex Friday night, he's accused of family violence.
Clark is out on a $1,500 bond.
But according to our sources, this is not the first time the 32-year-old has been in trouble with the law.
Our sources tell us for a previous family violence charge, Clark received pre-trial diversion, meaning he was allowed to take an anger management course, instead of being prosecuted.
For the latest charge, Blanton says there's an internal investigation taking place. Blanton say she could opt for more serious disciplinary action, including firing Clark, depending on what comes from that investigation.
Blanton says Clark has been a Port Arthur police officer for at least eight years.
