Port Arthur Independent School District middle school students will go back to school in a remodeled building this school year. Thomas Jefferson Middle School opened its doors for tours Thursday.
The school, located at 2200 Jefferson Drive, was once named Thomas Edison Middle School but was changed back to its original name in February of this year after an educator requested restoring the name to its original namesake.
The building was formerly Thomas Jefferson High School, which shuttered its doors in 2002.
