ORANGE, Texas — New DNA results could help Orange police finally catch a 4-year-old girl's killer.
Next week marks 17 years since Dannarriah Finley was raped and murdered.
According to the Orange Police Department, better technology should help detectives narrow the list of possible suspects.
The murder happened just weeks shy of her fifth birthday. According to investigators, Dannarriah was kidnapped from her home in Orange.
Captain Robert Enmon said better forensic testing allows old evidence to be tested more accurately, including the bed sheet that Finley's body was found on in Pleasure Island.
Captain Enmon said new DNA evidence will help detectives narrow their list of persons of interest.
"It can extract more accurately from smaller samples and help bring a clearer picture," said Captain Enmon.
The Orange Police Department will be conducting new interviews in the next couple months.
"This is the most intense review of the case since it happened in 2002 and we are hopeful for new results," Enmon said.
