A familiar face in southeast Texas politics is ready to get back into the game.
In an interview with 12News, Mike Hamilton officially announced he will run to be the Republican nominee for Orange County judge.
Hamilton is a former state representative and a restaurateur. He said he believes he has what it takes to tap into Orange County's potential.
"There's no other county in the state of Texas that has two waterways and an interstate and railroads, all going through it, and the potential is there. We just need somebody out there to be the cheerleader for Orange County and bring those guys in," said Hamilton.
Hamilton is running for the seat being vacated by Carl Thibodeaux, who is retiring.
Thibodeaux is the longest serving county judge in Orange County history.
