"He is in good spirits and is eager to recover to be able to return back to work," he said.

McCulley says the doctors are optimistic that Costello's recovery will allow him to return to work in 6 to 8 weeks.

"Officer Costello and his family have been extremely humbled and blessed to have so much support from the citizens of our community and beyond," he said.

The Woodville Police Department submitted an application to the The100Club for financial assistance to cover Costello's hospital bills and salary.

The100Club representative advised me that most if not all of officer Costello's expenses and income adjustments will be covered," McCulley said.
