High winds put a damper on mosquito control

Unfortunately, recent high winds have halted the JCMP and their sprayers according according to JCMP Director, Denise Marcel.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Texas — As spring fully arrives in Southeast Texas, one of it's most maligned residents is beginning to buzz back onto the scene, and adverse weather conditions seem to be helping them out.

As most locals know, the mosquito population in Jefferson County can quickly get out of hand, but thankfully they have the Jefferson County Mosquito Patrol to help keep them at bay.

Unfortunately, recent high winds have halted the JCMP and their sprayers, according to JCMP Director, Denise Marcel.

Marcel says that while they have been receiving calls regarding spray schedules due to an "abundance of Crane flies and some mosquitoes" they have not been able to set up a spray schedule because of the extremely high winds.

Marcel still encourages people to contact their office at 409-719-5940 to request spraying after the wind dies down, or put in an online request to their web page.

JCMP says that they will post the new spray schedule to their Facebook page and website when they are able to resume normal operations.
