PORT ARTHUR, Texas — The West Port Arthur Community Garden received a large donation to go toward year-round production and workshops.
Entergy Texas partnered with The United way of Mid and South Jefferson County to donate $75, 000 to help the expansion of the West Port Arthur Community Garden located at 7980 Anchor Drive.
The funds will help build a greenhouse that will allow year-round production as well as hosting additional workshops for community members.
The West Port Arthur Community Garden, which opened in 2019, aims to create a vibrant and sustainable space where community members can come together to grow fresh produce, learn about sustainable gardening practices and foster a sense of community pride.
Representatives from Entergy Texas, the United Way of Mid & South Jefferson County and City of Port Arthur attended the ribbon cutting which was held Monday, November 6, 2023.
