WEST ORANGE, Texas — The West Orange City Hall building opened in 2000. Now, more than 20 years later, it is set to soon get a new and upgraded look.
The makeover will include new paint and new plants, including roses, boxwood bushes and crepe myrtle trees, that are watered by a new outside water irrigation system.
The changes will also include upgrades to the municipal court chambers and a new “digital touch” to city hall. Residents will see new LED lights as they walk through the doors.
Fifty thousand dollars from the American Rescue Plan paid for the renovations to city council chambers.
“They're putting carpet down right now,” Mayor Randy Branch said. “So, there was a little carpentry work, carpet work, and then a little electrical work that had to still had to be done. Well, we got the granite put on last week, and it really, really made a big difference in there.”
New televisions will be added in the chambers and will live stream city council meetings. It won't take long for residents to see these changes.
The upgrades are set to be finished by the end of next week.
