BEAUMONT — Warren Wells, a Hebert High School football standout and star wide receiver in the NFL, died Thursday in Beaumont due to congestive heart failure, according to the Oakland Raiders.
Wells died at the age of 76.
“The Raiders mourn the passing of Warren Wells, who was an integral part of the Raiders’ vaunted vertical passing game,” the team said in a statement released on Twitter. “The thoughts and prayers of the entire #RaiderNation are with the Wells family at this time.”
Wells went to Texas Southern University before playing one season with the Detroit Lions and four for the Oakland Raiders.
