NEDERLAND, Texas — In the spooky spirit of Halloween, one Southeast Texas woman has gone all out decorating her yard for the holiday.
If you're looking for Halloween horrors, you won't have to travel farther than Stacy Ward’s Nederland neighborhood in the 400 block of N 11th St.
Ward and her family have a long-standing tradition of creating something special for the community. You’ve got until Thursday night to check it out for yourself.
"This is the best time of the year for me,” Ward tells 12News. "I've always been a big trick or treater for houses, instead of trunk or treats and stuff like that.”
You can find all of it in Ward’s front yard.
Dubbed as a "haunted yard”, it's filled with decorations that are literally larger than life.
"I don't have a clue of how many I have, this is not all I have,” Ward explains. “If I had to guess, probably, I don't know, well over 100 big items"
It's something that she does to show her love for the big night.
"We have some that are motion sensor, that go off when you walk by or make sounds,” Ward says. “We have some that just constantly run all the time, and we have some that jump up, so the kids really like them a lot."
If the yard wasn't enough, there's another section trick-or-treaters can explore.
Ward calls her carport the haunted building. She has filled it with more animatronic items including more motion sensor pieces, lights and plenty of fog machines.
Ward starts preparing the "haunted yard" early because she's so “dead-icated” to her craft.
This year she spent the last two weeks of September getting set up so everything was ready by October 1st.
The public is invited to wander through her yard anytime all the lights are turned on, Ward says.
"They're more than welcome to come in take pictures with everything they want to,” she says. “Just be careful."
If you want to take your family to see the haunted yard you can find it at 424 N. 11th street in Nederland.
"This is all just something we enjoy doing for the community,” Ward says.
This is a developing story. We will update with more if and when we receive more confirmed information.
