Vidor Brookshire Brothers closing its doors after 35 years

The grocery store, fueling station and Tobacco Barn will close August 24 while the pharmacy will be closing August 23.

VIDOR, Texas — Brookshire Brothers in Vidor has announced it is closing its doors.

The grocery store, fueling station and Tobacco Barn will close August 24 while the pharmacy will be closing August 23.

"Brookshire Brothers wants to extend our deepest appreciation to our loyal customers and dedicated staff who have supported us throughout the years," said Brookshire Brothers President and CEO John Alston. "We hope to continue those relationships in our surrounding southeast Texas stores."

The store is under a lease agreement that will be expiring soon. Employees have been told of the store's closures.

"We are assisting our employee owners during this transition," Alston said. "We are incredibly grateful for their hard work and dedication, and they have all been offered positions within the company."

All prescriptions are being transferred to the Brookshire Brothers Pharmacy in Lumberton, located at 421 S. Main St. Customers needing to refill or transfer medications after August 23 should call the Lumberton pharmacy at 409-227-2004.

Brookshire Brothers was founded in Lufkin in 1921.  There are nearly 120 locations that stretch west to the Texas Hill Country and east to Lake Charles, Louisiana.
