VIDOR, Texas — The owners of a family owned Vidor BBQ restaurant announced that it will be closing by the end of the year.
Wright's B-B-Q & Catering will be closing at the end of 2024 according to a Facebook post by Jodie Wright last week.
The family owned restaurant has been serving BBQ in Vidor for nearly 60 years according to Wright's post.
Wright's, which is at 1096 North Main St, was first opened by Cooper and Mabel Wright in 1966, according to the post. The Wright's son, Jackie, took over and has been running the restaurant.
Jackie Wright, who is retiring, "...continued with the “Wright Tradition” serving up food we all know and love," she wrote on Facebook.
More than 40 people commented on the post lamenting the closure of the restaurant.
"Oh man! I hate to see this," Janell Shivers Grass wrote. "We have loved Wrights BBQ for so many years!""
The restaurant will offer their smoked Thanksgiving turkeys for the last time this month and, if you want one, you'll need to call them at 409-769-3812.
"This hurts my heart," Amanda Quick-Allison wrote, "We are regulars. I'm gonna miss my chipped beef sandwiches!!!"
Wright thanked their customers saying "Thank you Vidor, Texas for the past 60 years of loving and supporting Wright’s BBQ!"
This is a developing story. We will update with more if and when we receive more confirmed information.
