BEAUMONT, Texas — The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has fined Veolia ES Technical Solutions for exceeding emission limits on multiple occasions and failing to report the incidents.
TCEQ says Veolia exceeded emission limits for arsenic, beryllium, chromium, hydrochloric acid, and particulate matter on multiple occasions and failed to report it.
Veolia was fined $42,269, but the fine was reduced by $8,453 for "expedited settlement," and the payable penalty is $33,816.
TCEQ says Veolia also neglected proper maintenance on emergency engines, and did not submit key documents, such as startup notifications and test results, within the necessary timeframes.
Additionally, unauthorized emissions of iodine were released, and essential inspections were not conducted for emergency equipment in 2020 and 2021, which also contributed to their noncompliance.
This is a developing story. We will update with more if and when we receive more confirmed information.
