BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont Police are now investigating after a car accident involving a train on Friday night.
Officers were called to the railroad tracks at Garner and Helbig around 8 p.m. Friday, November 1. Investigation showed the driver of the vehicle tried to cross the tracks as the train was approaching according to a Beaumont Police Department news release.
The train hit the passenger side of the vehicle, seriously injuring the passenger according to the release.
Investigators say the driver received minor injuries. Both were taken to a hospital.
The investigation is ongoing.

On Friday, November 1, 2019, at 8:09 p.m., Beaumont Police responded to the railroad tracks at Garner and Helbig, in reference to a car crash involving a train. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the vehicle attempted to cross the tracks as the train was approaching. The train struck the passenger side of the vehicle. The driver received minor injuries and the passenger received serious injuries. Both were transported to a local hospital. The investigation is on-going.
