BEAUMONT, Texas — Two Beaumont residents escaped a house fire without injury by climbing out a window early Tuesday morning.

By the time Beaumont firefighters arrived at a house fire in the 4800 block of Tupelo Ln in the city's north end the two had already escaped through a window, according to the Beaumont Fire Marshal's office.

The fire was reported at about 1:40 a.m. and flames were visible coming through the roof of the home which was "50% involved" when firefighters started fighting it.

Firefighters called another crew to help fight the fire which caused "significant structural damage" to the home leaving it uninhabitable according to the fire marshal's office.

The Red Cross has been notified to assist the residents who were displaced by the fire.

Crews were fighting and cleaning up after the fire until after 5 a.m.

The cause of the fire has not been determined yet.

This is a developing story. We will update with more if and when we receive more confirmed information.
