Two children, two adults taken to hospital after multiple-vehicle wreck in Lumberton

The wreck happened on Highway 96 at Chance Cutoff around 2:45 p.m.

LUMBERTON, Texas — A multiple-vehicle accident sent two adults and two children to the hospital in Lumberton Sunday afternoon.

The wreck happened on Highway 96 at Chance Cutoff around 2:45 p.m.

Lumberton Police Department, Lumberton Fire Department and Sour Lake EMS arrived to the scene, according to 12News crew at the scene.

One vehicle was speeding at hit another vehicle from behind. The second vehicle was forced forward from the impact into the intersection and struck another driver in the inside southbound lane north of Chance Cutoff. 

The first vehicle lost control after the impact and hit another vehicle that was at rest on E. Chance Cutoff.

A Jaws of Life was used to get people out of one of the vehicles, said 12News crew on the scene.

Four people were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries according to Lumberton Police Chief Danny Sullins.

Two of the people were adults and the other two were children under the age of 10, Chief Sullins tells 12News.

One child suffered head trauma and the other child suffered a broken leg/arm and minor lacerations, according to Chief Sullins.
